Choosing Kindness, Support and Syle

The Modern Rule has been in the works for at least 5 years. The moment I realized that my brother, sister, and I took different pathways in our lives and surprisingly, despite our different roads, were very happy, I knew that different was more than okay. We were supposed to follow similar paths—grow up, get a job, fall in love, get married and have kids—but each of us fought diverse battles, made different decisions about our pathways, and were completely celebratory of each other’s unique journeys. We supported one another through setbacks and celebrated triumphs. Needless to say, we didn’t quite follow our predetermined journeys.

As siblings we never expected one another to follow specific guidelines, ways or timelines. In hindsight, we were intuitively 100 percent supportive. We respected and admired each other deeply. We understood that there was more than one way to do life. We realized that the world is perceived through your own set of lenses but that there are other lenses and other perspectives that make our differences, our relationships, and even us as individuals better.

I’ve always loved to write, and I believe it’s worth creating a space where people can also share their stories and journeys. That is why The Modern Rule exists. The Modern Rule (TMR) is not about a specific code or secret to happiness, but it is a platform where we can celebrate each other’s unique ways and use it to reach our potential. Working toward a better version of ourselves in an environment that is supportive, inclusive, collaborative, celebratory, kind, cheerful, creative, stylish, and loving.

I decided to work on this blog for one year with the objective of sharing the stories that demonstrate that there are no molds to fit; you create your own road, on your own terms, and on your own timeline. The Modern Rule community seeks to encourage you to love who you are.

Living confidently on your own terms and by doing so impacting your community and the world in the most positive way you can: by finding your voice and working toward building the life that you are meant to live by recruiting your best self to work toward your dreams and hopes.

I have found that a crucial component of fulfillment during one's journey is to make sure that you surround yourself with people who love you unconditionally but are also comfortable having a different perspective.

I created both “The Modern Rule” blog and my company “Matter & Co.” to explore the power of uniqueness and the importance of intentionality so that you can build a personal brand and legacy that will help you work and build on the best version of yourself.
