nailing it

Abraham Maslow says “I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail.” This is Maslow’s famous Law of the instrument, emphasizes the challenges of depeding too heavily on our judgments: they have too much bias and are filled with prejudices and the binoculars of our personal history. As we have discussed before when we judge ourselves and others too harshly we are likely approaching the situation from a very limited perspective. I have had the greatest breakthroughs of my life by allowing myself to get out of the way on understanding a situation by my preconceived notions, once I realize that my judgment is been colored my ME, I have been able to get out of the way with the objective a more expansive perspective and it has change in a second the way I perceived myself and others.
